Hand-sewn Repairs
Inglis & JaDoc
offers hand-sewn repairs to preserve the value of fine handmade rugs.
Machined repairs are a great economical alternative but often depreciate the value of collector & trader value rugs.
If the face fibers have
been worn to the warp backing and needs to be reweaved or the fringe
has been torn or shredded through use and you need it replaced as
original. Perhaps a hole has developed from a tear that needs to be
sewn together or the colour in the rug needs to be retouched, all of
this is available to you through our hand-sewn service. JaDoc & Inglis draw on traditional
weaving techniques to artfully restore your investment. These
repairs will maintain the value of the carpet and - in some instances -
even increase the value of your rug.

Here is an example of a rug restoration on a Persian Hamadan. The first picture is showing you damage that was caused by a moth infestation. They had eaten the wool back to the weft and a portion of the fringe. This is a fairly common occurrence for rugs that have been in storage for lengthy periods or where a portion of the carpet is obscured beneath furniture allowing moths to slowly cause the damage. Another good reason why your rugs should be rotated regularly.

Here you see the final product. Everything is neatly secured. This service is excellent for heirloom pieces that have had an unfortunate incident. A proper reweaving will maintain the value of your area rugs or even increase it. The longer this type of damage is left unchecked, the more costly the repair becomes.
